2009 Fall Conference

IMG_4883For the AMBA's 2009 Fall Conference, we raised the bar from 2008, taking action with visits on Senators and Congressmen.  The AMBA office staff coordinated 56 meetings for 7 teams representing 34 companies over two days, taking our concerns to those who represent us and make the laws we live and work by.

Noteworthy conference quotes...

  • "Don't give up."  Congressman Lynn Westmoreland referring to the frustration of lobbying on behalf of manufacturing.
  • "We've been manufacturing [in the USA] over 200 years.  We're on the precipace of losing it."
  • "Our government says we can't be too hard on the Chinese; they're our bankers.  The fact is they need our consumer market.  The Chinese are handcuffed if we'd only realize it."
  • "56,000 moldmaking jobs 10 years ago; 31,500 now."
  • "Talk about 'wealth creation.'"
  • "Manufacturing is cool."
  • "The manufacturing sector must be revitalized."
  • "The WTO [World Trade Organization] limits our ability to recover.  Take for instance the cash for clunkers program.  We couldn't limit it to American cars; that would be against the WTO."
  • "We started our mold business with a dream and passion.  Share your passion."

I have broken the photos into three groups in galleries you can select to the upper right.  Remember you can click on any thumbnail image to enlarge it.  Click on the right or left half of the image, or use the right or left keyboard arrow to navigate forward or back.  Press or click on "close" to close the enlarged image and just scan through the thumbnails.

I hope that I have caught everyone in at least one photo or more.  It is always my intent to meet, talk with, photograph, and mention everyone.  I also hope I included your name in the key words and spelled it right.  Whether or not I caught you, I sincerely hope you will attend the 2010 National Convention in Orlando, Florida, so I can have another opportunity to snap your photo and spend time with you again.  I apologize for redundant or similar images.  Some of the photos were too hard to choose, so I just posted both or all choices and indulged myself.  Any opinions stated or inferred are those of the photographer and may not represent the opinions of the AMBA or its members.        -Todd Schuett
